Our Royal Wedding in Kansas City

A funny thing happened - we were considering having a watch party for the wedding of Prince William and Princess Kate, but hadn't gotten the details worked out. In late March, my phone rang. The voice on the other end said "My daughters reception venue double booked us and now we are trying to find another venue. We've been booked there for 8 months and now we don't know what to do. Are you available for April 29, 2011?"

JoLynn and her family came in to visit the Vox Theatre and decided to book the reception, so that cancelled our plans for a watch party. Alistair still thought it was a good idea, but I was not going to work from 3 am until midnight and then have another wedding reception the following day.

As we were doing our final walk through, JoLynn and her family talked about crowns for decorations and royal stuff. I thought ok, it is the same day as the royal wedding. I get it. Well, then it struck me. Yes, sometimes I am a little slow. The groom's last name is KING - how ironic. When they were planning their wedding they had no idea they were choosing the same day as the royal wedding.

Our King's wedding was not nearly as elaborate but it was a fun event.
