A Band at Your Wedding

Bands can really get the crowd excited and dancing. Katie and Steve hired the Sellout a local Kansas City cover band for their wedding reception at the Vox Theatre. From the first note, the entire crowd was on the dance floor.

Definitely, a great time was had by all!

Balloons Balloons Balloons!

We've never seen so many balloons at the Vox Theatre. Venus and Jamie brought in over 1300 balloons for their Kansas City wedding reception. Although this was their 3 reception, (the wedding was in West Virginia) they wanted their Kansas City family and friends to share in their joy. And they celebrated with balloons!

The balloons were provide by Balloon Expressions.

Our Royal Wedding in Kansas City

A funny thing happened - we were considering having a watch party for the wedding of Prince William and Princess Kate, but hadn't gotten the details worked out. In late March, my phone rang. The voice on the other end said "My daughters reception venue double booked us and now we are trying to find another venue. We've been booked there for 8 months and now we don't know what to do. Are you available for April 29, 2011?"

JoLynn and her family came in to visit the Vox Theatre and decided to book the reception, so that cancelled our plans for a watch party. Alistair still thought it was a good idea, but I was not going to work from 3 am until midnight and then have another wedding reception the following day.

As we were doing our final walk through, JoLynn and her family talked about crowns for decorations and royal stuff. I thought ok, it is the same day as the royal wedding. I get it. Well, then it struck me. Yes, sometimes I am a little slow. The groom's last name is KING - how ironic. When they were planning their wedding they had no idea they were choosing the same day as the royal wedding.

Our King's wedding was not nearly as elaborate but it was a fun event.

Cake Pop - Wedding Cake Alternative part 2

Like I said in my last post, cake pops are everywhere. JoLynn and Chris had a version of cake pops at their Vox Theatre wedding reception after their return to Kansas City from a destination wedding in Florida. Along with a variety of mini-cupcakes, two flavors of cake balls were provided as treats for the guest - strawberries & cream and chocolate pecan turtles.

Cake Pop - Wedding Cake Alternative

Alistair doesn't let me leave the Vox Theatre much but I don't actually live under a rock. My adorable kids say I'm not cool but I am usually up on current events, so when Mary Beth and Blake had cake pops at their wedding reception, I thought wow these are unique. Since then cake pops (or some version of cake pops) are every where I turn - baby showers, wedding receptions...even Starbucks has these delightful treats.

Mary Beth's mom made hundreds of these cake pops for the April wedding and dessert/dancing reception at the Vox Theatre. Four different varieties were available for the guests to try - red velvet, spice, chocolate and traditional white wedding cake.
